Tavşanlarda Bazı Antiglokomatöz İlaçların Göz İçi Basıncı Üzerine Etkileri*

Year 2015, Volume: 12 Issue: 2, 99 - 107, 01.07.2015

Abstract

Effects of Some Topical Antiglaucomatous Drugs on Intraocular Pressure in Rabbits

Year 2015, Volume: 12 Issue: 2, 99 - 107, 01.07.2015

Abstract

To purpose of this study was to compare the effects of travoprost, timolol and travoprots/timolol combination on
the intraocular pressure (IOP) of healthy rabbits. Forty two healthy New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into
three groups to receive: travoprost (Group 1), timolol (Group 2), and combination of travoprost/timolol (Group 3). In all groups,
the right eye was detected as the experimental group and drugs were instilled. Travoprost and travoprost/timolol was applied
topically once a day at 8 AM whilst, timolol was given twice a day at 8 AM and 8 PM for six days. The IOP measurements were
performed by using rebound tonometer at 8 AM, 10 AM, 2 PM and 8 PM during the six day treatment, three days before and three
days after the treatment. There were no significant differences between the effects of travoprost, timolol and travoprost/timolol
combination on IOP. As a result, the effects of travoprost, timolol and travoprost/timolol combination were similar in all groups,
travoprost and travoprost/timolol groups provided longer IOP drop compared to timolol, timolol group exhibited a more rapid
IOP drop than the other two groups.
