Two Cases Of Acrania Diagnosed in the First Trimester

Abstract

Fetal acrania that is characterized with the absence of calvarium (acalvaria) is a rarely seen lethal anomaly . Compared with heavy neural tube defects, anencefaly and exencefaly, cerebral paranchyme is protected in acrania. Failure in the migration of ectodermal mesenchymal cells was responsible for etiology. Diagnosis is possible with ultrasonography (US) in early gestational weeks. In this report, 2 cases of acrania that was detected with sonographic examination in the 1st trimester were presented with the discussion of the literature

Abstract

Fetal akrani, kalvaryumun (akalvaria) yokluğu ile karakterize, daima ölümcül seyreden ve nadir görülen bir anomalidir. Daha ağır nöral tüp defektleri olan anensefali ve exensefali ile karşılaştırıldığında akranide beyin parankim organizasyonunun korunduğu görülür. Etyolojisinde ektodermal mezenkimal hücrelerin göçünde yetersizlik sorumlu tutulmaktadır. Erken
gebelik haftasında yapılacak bir ultrason (US) ile akrani tanısını koymak mümkündür. Bu yazıda 1. trimesterde sonografik incelemeyle tespit edilen 2 akrani olgusu literatür eşliğinde sunulmuştur.
