Clinical and radiographical assessments of treatment of Salter-Harris type fractures in cat and dog

Öz

Material of this study were 42 cases (26 cats and 16 dogs) of different breed, age and sex which were brought to Ankara University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Clinic of Orthopaedics and Traumatology and diagnosis of the growth plate fracture of long bones of extremities were made. Thirty of 42 cases were distal femoral, 9 distal humeral, 5 distal tibial, 4 distal radial, 2 proksimal tibial and 1 distal ulnar fractures (multiple fractures seen in some of the cases were also included to these values). Twenty four of these cases were Type I, 15 were type II, 4 were type III and 4 were Salter-Harris type IV fractures (1 avulsion fracture was also noted and 3 old cases could not be classified). Four cases were treated conservatively, 30 fractures were treated by cross pin technique, 4 with single pin application, 2 with intramedullary pin application, 2 with application of 2 parallel Kirschner wires, 2 with dynamic intramedullary cross pin technique and 1 was treated with paired convergent pin technique

Kedi ve köpeklerde karşılaşılan Salter-Harris kırıklarının sağaltım sonuçlarının klinik ve radyolojik değerlendirilmesi

Öz

Bu çalışma 2007-2008 tarihleri arasında Ankara Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Cerrahi Anabilim Dalı Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji Kliniği’ne getirilen, klinik ve radyolojik muayeneler sonrasında, ekstremite uzun kemiklerinde Salter-Harris kırığı belirlenen, değişik ırk, yaş ve cinsiyetteki 26 kedi ve 16 köpek olmak üzere toplam 42 olguda gerçekleştirildi. Değerlendirilen 42 olguda; 30 distal femur, 9 distal humerus, 5 distal tibia, 4 distal radius, 2 proksimal tibia ve 1 distal ulna’da Salter-Harris kırık oluşumu gözlendi (bazı olgularda rastlanan çoklu kırık oluşumu da sayısal dağılımda yer almıştır). Bu kırıklar Salter-Harris’e göre sınıflandırıldığında; 24 Tip I, 15 Tip II, 4 Tip III ve 4 Tip IV kırığı belirlendi (ayrıca 1 avulziyon kırığı belirlenirken, 3 olguda eski kırık oluşumu nedeniyle sınıflandırma yapılamadı). Bu olgularda 4 kırık için konservatif sağaltım uygulanırken, operatif kırık sağaltımında 30 kırıkta çapraz pin tekniği, 4 kırıkta tek pin uygulaması, 2 kırıkta intramedullar pin uygulaması, 2 kırıkta paralel iki Kirschner teli uygulaması, 2 kırıkta dinamik intramedullar çapraz pin uygulaması ve 1 kırıkta bir noktada kesişen çift pin uygulamasıyla fiksasyon sağlandı
