-Thc study material included a three and half months old Arabian foal, which was brought to the Clinics of the
Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ankara University. Depending on the breeder
report, thc foal was subjected a kicking trauma to the right forelimb in the field. Diaphyseal comminuted fracture of thc right
antebrachium was detected according to the clinical and the radiological examinations. Fracture fixation of the foal, intended to use
for breeding purpose in TIGEM Çifteler Horse Breeding Units, was managed using an intramedullary Kuntscher pin as a fixation
materia1. After the operation a Scotchcast bandage was applied on the affected right limb for a 4 weeks period. The Kuntscher pin
was decided to leave in siıu because the foal was in the growing period and to avoid possible intra-articular lesions. Alkr clinical and
radiological follow-up examinations until the 61h month, functional healing was provided and it was decided that the foal was
functionally in good condition and suitable for breeding purposes. The information getıing from the Çifteler Breeding Unit in Slh
