Summary: Experimental homotransplantation of myocardiumcen has b carried uo!
on 8 dogs. The epicardium on the left \'entricu!um of the recipient with endocardium
removed was taken out after median sternotom)', and the donor's left myocardium was
transplaqted to this area. The transplant was chosen a~ big as the recipient's left myocardial
area. The time period from the separation of the transplant from donor's heart to its application on the recipinets left ventrieulum was to 2 minutes. 7 of the 8 recipients recovered
within the first month of the operation, and 5 of thcse completed their 6 months control
period, and were killcd with nembutal at the cnd of this time for autopsy. 3 recipients dicd
within the control period (Rccipicnt 5 in 6 days; recipicnt 6 in 56 days; and recipicnt 7 in
81 days after transplantation). The size of the transplant diminishcd to 50 % of its orginal
size within 6 months of the operation and appeared to have cicatrizcd. The transplant
has been chronically rejected to 6 months, and the recovered animals did not show any
bad sings of their living standarts. All experimenta! animals have not been given any immunosuppressive agent
