Behice Durgun is a Professor of Anatomy at Çukurova University, Faculty of Medicine. She graduated with a BS from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology in 1980; a MS from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anatomy in 1985, and a PhD from the same department in 1989. She continued her postdoctorate study as a visiting scientist and project manager in the Department of Pathology, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Dundee, UK, in 1991. For biomechanical studies, she visited German Sport University Cologne in 2002. She is a member of the Turkish Society of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy, Turkish Sports Sciences Society, British Association of Clinical Anatomists and International Brain Research Organization. She has published more than 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals. She has four published books about anatomy, sports sciences and ergonomics, and many sections on translated books. She has served as a reviewer, editorial board member and editor of several reputed journals. She has seven national and twelve international awards. She was also awarded “The 2016 Biotechnology Award” “The Healthcare & Life Sciences Awards 2017 and “The 2018 Biotechnology Awards, Basic Medicine Professor of the Year”.

Her research interests: Plastination, The Effects of Rapid Fixation on Macroscopic and Molecular Structures, Neuroanatomy, and Kinesiological anatomy, anthropometry, sports sciences, biomechanical modelling, ergonomics and biomedical engineering.
