Abstract

In the present study, an experiment was designed to investigate how zinc supplementation affect plasma leptin, insulin, total triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4) and free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4) and some biochemical parameters between Akkaraman sheep as fat-tailed breed and Merino sheep as thin-tailed breed. The animals were equally divided into four groups of 24 animals each. Group I (control Akkaraman) and group III (control Merino) were fed with a basis diet (roughages such as alfalfa hay + concentrate feed). Group II (Zn-Akkaraman) and group IV (Zn-Merino) were fed a at 250 mg/kg Zn ( ZnSO4. 7H2O) added to basis diet. The experimental study was lasted for 30 days and blood samples were taken from the animals to determine plasma concentrations of leptin, insulin, free triiodothyronine (FT3), free tetraiodothyronine (FT4), total triiodothyronine (T3), tiroxin (T4), urea, glucose, malondialdehyde (MDA), glutation (GSH), total antioxidant activity (TAA), β-karoten and vitamin A at the end of trial. Both sheep species in the Zn groups had significantly higher plasma Zn values than the controls throughout the experimental period. The levels of plasma leptin, insulin, thyroid hormones, glucose, urea, MDA, GSH, TAA and vitamin A were insignificant changed both Akkaraman and Merino in the Zn groups. However, the concentrations of plasma glucose, urea and ßcaroten were higher in Merino control group than those of Akkaraman control group. This results indicated that there was no effect of dietary zinc supplemantation on the plasma leptin, insulin and thyroid hormones and another parameters in both sheep species with different tail types

Abstract

Bu araştırmada yağlı kuyruklu Akkaraman ve yağsız kuyruklu Anadolu Merinos koyun ırklarının rasyonuna çinko ilave edilmesinin leptin, insulin, tiroid hormonları ile bazı biyokimyasal parametrelere etkisinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan Akkaraman ve Merinos ırkı toplam 24 baş koyun 4 gruba ayrılmıştır. Grup I (kontrol Akkaraman) ve grup III (kontrol Merinos) temel rasyon (kaba yem olarak kuru yonca+karma yem) ile beslenirken, Grup II (Zn-Akkaraman) ve grup IV (Zn-Merinos) temel rasyonuna 250 mg/kg Zn (ZnSO4. 7H2O) ilave edilmiştir. Bir aylık deneme süresi sonunda alınan kanda leptin, insulin, serbest triiyodotironin (FT3) ve tetraiyodotironin (FT4), total triiyodotironin (T3) ve tiroksin (T4) hormonları ile üre, glikoz, malondialdehit (MDA), glutasyon (GSH), total antioksidan aktivite (TAA), β-karoten ve vitamin A düzeyleri ölçülmüştür. Plazma çinko düzeyi kontrol gruplarına göre her 2 ırkın çinkolu gruplarında yüksek bulunmuştur. Kontrollerine göre her iki ırkın çinkolu gruplarında plazma leptin, insulin, tiroid hormonları, glikoz, üre, MDA, GSH, TAA ve vitamin A düzeylerindeki değişimler istatistiki olarak önemsiz bulunmuştur. Kontrol Merinoslarda glikoz, üre ve ß-karoten düzeyleri Akkaramanlardan yüksek tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar rasyona ilave edilen çinkonun, farklı kuyruk yapısına sahip her iki koyun ırkında da plazma leptin, insulin ve tiroid hormonları ile diğer parametrelere etkisinin olmadığını göstermektedir
